FSC®

This is our FSC® Story

Hübsch has an ambition of using only responsible and traceable wood.

In 2020, we began a journey with the process of implementing FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood. Today we use the certified wood in all our wood products.

All new designs and reproduction of existing designs will be produced with FSC certified wood. By time our stock will be cleared of all non-certified wood.

What is FSC®

FSC is a global non-profit forest certification system promoting the responsible management of the world’s forests, protecting them for future generations. The organisation works against deforestation, protects animals and plants, and ensures that foresters receive decent wages, proper training and safety equipment.

FSC certifies forests all over the world to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards. Products made with wood and paper from certified forests are marked with a ‘tick tree’ logo. When you see this logo, you can be confident that buying it won’t mean harming the world’s forests.

Forests are inspected and certified against strict standards based on FSC’s 10 Principles of Forest Stewardship. These inspections are undertaken by independent organisations, such as the Soil Association, that are accredited by the FSC. In order to be given a certification a forest must be managed in an environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable manner. This is what makes the certified system unique. It ensures that a forest is well-managed from the protection of indigenous people’s rights to the methods of felling trees. Forests that meet these strict standards are given FSC certification and the timber allowed to carry the certified label.

This means a lot to us as a company. We believe in taking care of the world around us and we try our utmost to live by this promise.
